The Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye has officially cut sod for the construction works on the 24km road links the communities of Pakyi No.2 and Antoakrom in the Ashanti Region.

The sod-cutting ceremony took place on Saturday, April 20 in Pakyi No.2 to commence the Pakyi No.2 to Antoakrom road project.

As part of a two-day working visit to the region, Asenso-Boakye also inspected ongoing road infrastructure projects in Ejisu, Nhyiaeso, Bantama, Suame, Kwadaso and Manhyia.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress of works and urge contractors to expedite actions to complete the projects on schedule.

The Minister further handed over 4.6km of town roads in Pakyi No.1 and Pakyi No.2 to contractors to commence rehabilitation.

When completed, the 24km Pakyi No.2 to Antoakrom highway is expected to significantly reduce travel time for commuters and open up the sub-region to trade and investment opportunities.

The project forms part of the government's vision to expand the country's road network and promote socio-economic growth.
