Rejoinder - Ghanas Presidential Debate 2024
03.04.2024 LISTEN

A delegation of Ghanaians in the diaspora have arrived in Ghana with a set of questions to help the center for democracy within the Ghanaian democratic media space .

Some of the delegates shared their collective views and opinions with some watchers of the space .

Nana Yaa Sriboe , a Ghanaian based in the USA , stated that their mission in the country today is to help facilitate a platform that can help Ghanaians become aware of their role in ensuring that whoever they vote for can be held accountable to the voters that voted them into office .

Ghana she said , has long been viewed as a beacon for Democracy in Africa , yet Ghana is fast loosing its credibility and integrity due to the malfeasance of corruption within the instruments of governance in the country today . She went on further to say , the two political parties , namely the NDC and the NPP have both ruled Ghana with same number of years , yet it’s the Ghanaian voter who gets to mark the score card of these parties . The 16yr rule , which both parties have had the opportunity to govern, must have impacted lives for the better or for the worse , and tangible measurable performances can be documented for all to see.

The Ghanaian media space has been polarised so much so that today , media houses are silenced with corrupt money so that they don’t expose the rot in the governance of our beloved country Ghana.

It was highlighted, that media houses have been told not to talk about any Presidential Debate because one party feels it would NOT FAVOUR their candidate, simply because that party feels Ghanaians do not have the right a debate that can help shape the future of millions of people . Ghanaians in the diaspora are here to facilitate a debate , because it is the right of the people to know what vision these presidential candidates have for our country and what better place would that opportunity be highlighted than on a platform where all the candidates can come together under one roof to answer to the people of Ghana on all the various social sectors that empower and develop our citizenry.

Our foreigner partners and international election observers have all agreed to support this initiative, and we therefore call on the media houses Multimedia/MediaGeneral/etc to avail themselves so together we can weed out the corruption and begin a journey of empowerment that can raise Ghana back to it’s rightful place on the world stage . Ghana must rise again .

2024 is the year Ghana rises from decades of corruptive leadership, and it’s up to Ghanaians to ignite the collective patriotism needed to develop our motherland Ghana .🇬🇭 May God continue to bless Ghana .
