Two Ghanaian travel bloggers have opened up about some of the difficulties they faced when first starting in the business, including occasionally having to sleep at bus stops due to financial constraints.
Lewis Osei and Dennis Asare Okai, who run the popular 'Brothers from Ghana' travel blog, spoke to ModernGhana News’ Isaac Donkor Distinguished about their early struggles in an interview.
"With the challenges, traveling within Ghana as a hobby can be an expensive one, as is accommodation. There were times when due to shortage of funds, we had to sleep at bus stops," said Kwabena.
The travel enthusiasts revealed they started travelling without any prior knowledge of travel blogging as a career.
They documented trips across the country purely as a pastime to experience different festivals.
It was only after deciding to monetise their travels that they realized the challenges of the industry.
However, Kwabena noted that feedback from readers who enjoyed their writings helped motivate them to persevere.
"When we started sharing our experiences professionally, the feedback we received encouraged us to keep going despite the difficulties," he stated.
Their perseverance has paid off, with 'Brothers from Ghana' growing into a respected travel blog with a large following both locally and internationally.
They were appointed as one of the official brand influencers for the just-ended TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
