NDC NDC Showing Hypocrisy, Inconsistencies Over New Voter's Register — Paramount Chief Fires
MON, 22 JUN 2020 LISTEN

The Paramount Chief (Omanhene) of Badu Traditional Council, Nana Yiadom Boakye II, has described the stance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the compilation of a new voter register as an act of hypocrisy that demonstrates inconsistencies.

According to the Paramount Chief, the position that the EC can only compile the register of voters once at the inception of the Constitution and not on multiple occasions is an interpretation by the party to serve its 'parochial interest' and not a proper appreciation of the 1992 Constitution.

Nana Yiadom Boakye II, made the call when he was addressing the regional party executives of the governing New Patriotic Party in the Bono Region at his palace at Badu in the Tain District on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.

The hierarchy of the New Patriotic Party in the Bono Region led by Kwame Baffoe Abronye DC is embarking on a 3-day sensitisation visit to the various Paramount Chiefs (Nananom) in the region over the new voter's registration exercise.

The Paramount Chief said Aseidu Nketia and the NDC are deliberately causing confusion over the compilation of new voters' register with constant shifting of their argument which is pure demonstration of hypocrisy and inconsistencies on their part.

The Chief said the deliberate attacks on the EC are an attempt to subject the Commission to public ridicule indicating that the EC should always be guided by their professional principles and not to be swayed by any political party propaganda.

Chairman Abronye in his remarks said the new voter's register will not disenfranchise any qualified voter.

He stressed that the compilation of a new register is a constitutional mandate which needs to uphold.

He urges Ghanaians not to fall to the lies and propaganda of the opposition NDC over the new voters' register.
