Ghanaian actress and producer Fella Makafui has opened up about struggling with suicidal thoughts in 2019 as a result of online trolling and abuse.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Accra-based Hitz FM, Fella Makafui shared that in 2019 she almost took her life after her manager informed her about negative comments being directed at her on social media.

"So far as you don’t say it that much, it stays where it is. The bad word travels more than the truth.

“In 2019, I was having a meeting with my manager, and he told me about something that was happening on social media and I almost took my life," Makafui stated.

The former Yolo TV series star, who is considered one of Ghana's top actresses, said the constant trolling severely impacted her mental well-being.

“If we are talking about people who get bullied, I am one of them. The moment I say it, it’s gone, so I don’t want to mention it,” she reflected.

Fella, who is promoting her new film "Resonance," advised choosing positivity over negativity.

“I just believe that God blesses us through our hearts. We shouldn’t hate and envy, I move with these three things. I think God is probably blessing me," she said.
