US-based Ghanaian comedian Michael Blackson has weighed in on Ghana's upcoming 2024 elections scheduled for December 7.

He observed that amid the current economic challenges in Ghana, some citizens may be considering re-electing former President John Mahama.

However, the Hollywood star told Ghanaians to evaluate what caused the one-time president's defeat in 2016 during his first term.

According to Blackson, what Mahama has done to demonstrate his worthiness for the presidency should also factor into decisions by those considering voting for him again.

"Ghana, you might be thinking about going back to NDC, but think about this - that guy was once your president, and why didn't he win a second term? What did he fail to do right in order to win reelection?" Blackson wrote in a Tuesday, April 23, post on X.

Meanwhile, the former president, who leads the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the polls, is facing stiff competition from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Other independent candidates like Nana Kwame Cheddar of the New Force movement and Alan Kyerematen of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change are also contesting to end the duopoly of the NDC and NPP.
