Wanlov snubbed by GMA

I remember asking in a previous posting the question: “what is Kubolor taking home from the GMAs?” In that article I wrote about how much impact the distinctively talented musician made in the past year with his 'Kubolor Music' and forecasted the difficulty he would face in winning some of the mainstream categories at the Ghana Music Awards.
As if the Selection Committee had listened to me, they nominated Wanlov in some of the categories I suggested that he should be nominated in, i.e. for the 'public categories'. Last Saturday at the award ceremony, I realised that Wanlov was also nominated in all of the 'industry award' categories I had suggested, including Video of the Year and Record of the Year for 'Kokonsa'. The only thing that didn't fall in place with my earlier submissions was with the winners in these categories on the night. Without a doubt, Okyeame Kwame had a very good year with his track, “Woso' but there is no snowball's chance in hell that the video for 'Woso' is better than that of 'Kokonsa'. With all due respect, the so-called industry experts who decided on this had it completely wrong! I am afraid that again, the committee has failed to account themselves to be creditable or competent as far as this particular award is concerned! Unless of course, the best video was chosen by blind men, it simply doesn't make sense; Konkonsa had the best picture quality and storyline, Period!
As for the Record of the Year, only the selection committee claim to know what it means, but from my layman's perspective and judging from past winners since it was instituted some few years back, I can conclude that, again, Wanlov deserved that award if not for anything at all, at least for making uniquely good music. Lets record talent and stop petty and pointless cronyism for once!– The END!
