It is not a good feeling to be jaded, trust me I know all about it. However after tonight's Ghana Music Awards, at least a dozen people would be hit with the feeling of being unappreciated by the industry; and it is normal. After all only one person can win whatever award at any particular moment. So those who go home with nothing tonight must know that's how it works and should take consolation in the mere fact that they were even nominated.

Without further ado, here are my predictions for the awards ceremony. So far as public voting is concerned, this year's GMAs is one of the most competitive yet as several of the nominees have been really strong in the past year. For me there are only two categories that have a clear winner. I think Richie deserves the Sound Engineer of the Year award, and Blakk Rasta deserves the Reggae Song of the Year nod, but now that he has been disqualified by the Headmasters of the Ghana Music Awards Academy, I wonder who will pick up the award.Anyway, here are my picks for the rest of the awards:

Artist of the Year: even though Okyeame Kwame only had one very strong song I think he will still win the artist of the year because his 'Woso' song was pretty strong.

Most Popular Song of the Year: Okyeame's 'Woso' was very strong but I think 'Angelina' by Praye may win this one. But I wish Ngozi by Michael Dwamena wins.

Discovery of the Year: a 3-way battle between R2Bees, Asem and Wanlov. But since R2bees do not have an album out yet they may be ruled out by the selection committee. Kubulor achieved a lot with his music as well but based on popularity, I think Asem will take this one.

Best Male Vocal Performance: a 2-way battle between Kwabena Kwabena and Richie. But Richie's voice is a bit too high so since it's a male vocal performance, I think Kwabena Kwabena will knick it. LOL!

Best Female Vocal Performance: Life by Bernice Offei is a wonderful musical piece and I wish it could win the best lyrics/composition. Her vocals on that song were very good but I think gospel diva, Christianna Love may take this one.

Hip Hop Song of the Year: Asem should take this but Pigaro was not strong for me, so Okyeame may win with Woso. I wish Kokonsa by Wanlov could spring a surprise here.

Hiplife Song of the Year: no appearance by Praye in this category and I wonder why. Medo Mmma by Okyeame Kwame wasn't too strong but may take this because there isn't really any strong contender.

Hiplife / Hiphop Artiste of the year: this award would have been good for R2Bees but again, technicalities don't favour them. I will give this one to Asem.

Gospel Song of the Year: Esther Piesie had a very good year and deserves an award in the gospel category but I think in the end, the older faces will win this. It's going to be a fight between Christiana Love and Philipa Baafi but Mrs. Love may just use experience to knick this.

Gospel Artiste of the Year: Same as above
Contemporary Highlife Song of the Year: Ngozi by Michael Dwamena was good but I'm a sucker for Kwabena Kwabena…LOL. I just hope his association with the NPP does not affect his chances.

Contemporary Highlife Artiste: although Kwabena Kwabena didn't get much airplay, the guy is good so let's just give it to him.

Afro Pop Song of the Year: for me it's between African Money by Sidney and Angelina by Praye. Praye may come out tops.

Reggae Song of the Year: with Blakk Rasta out, im sure true reggae lovers would be rooting for M'akomamu by Papa Wastic and Change Your Constitution – Chizzy Waller.

Best Collaboration of the Year: staright fight between Ade Akye Abia by Christiana Love & Kwaku Gyasi and Woso by Okyeame Kwame/Richie but the latter will have it.
