Re-introducing Redd Ice as he readies album, 'Nfitiasi'

Many Ghanaians may not know Canada-based hiplife artist, Redd Ice because his love affair with hiplife has been on and off. But the young rapper says he is poised to take Ghanaian music all the way to the top and so I am forced to re-introduce him to those who may not him or forgotten about him.
Born Richard Yeboah, he started performing in 2004 with a 1$ microphone connected to a computer but music has always been part of his life, “I was a very good dancer around age 5, but I stopped dancing as I grew up. So i can say it is my dancing talent which has changed into music', he comments.
His music talks about life… “Sometimes I think my songs are more like Ananse stories (fairy tale) because my songs talk about the pain and the joy we go through in our everyday lives. The things we go through in our relationships, in our businesses and even on the street”.
The major influences for his music include the likes of Nana Ampadu, Daddy Lumba , Reggie Rockstone, Obrafour, Ex- doe and others, so his music still bear the traditional elements of hiplife and highlife. He has appeared on a couple of mix tapes in Canada, and he also features on some tracks on Flexy Da Godson's up coming album. He also recorded 'Yen Ko Gye Yeni' with Ex- doe and Oga- B, which most Ghanaians would be familiar with. Redd Ice is looking forward to record with other artists back home in Ghana and abroad as well.
His debut album cleverly titled 'Nfitiase' or simply Genesis will contain 9 solid tracks with no Intro or Outro. The lead single is called 'Helele', which according to him means the African swagger or simply the African swag. The album which features the likes of Ex-doe, Oga- b, and Flexy Da Godson is set for release on October 31 in Montreal, Canada.
He assures Ghanaian back home that it would be available on the market pretty soon. “Well, we are still working on the distribution in Ghana. I can say that the album would be available in Ghana somewhere mid-December, but there is a video for 'Wanna Be Ya Man' which will be coming on your screens very soon. . The video was shot here in Canada by Long Field Films, and was directed by Peter Hatch, an upcoming film maker in Canada.”
Redd Ice left the shores of Ghana for Canada in 1999. He came back to Ghana in 2005 and 2006, where he recorded 'Yen Ko Gye Yeni' with Ex- doe and Oga- B at Nana King's studio in Dansoman. The song was engineered by Old-Kofi, one of the most talented music engineer's in Ghana. In spite of being away for a long time, he believes his music has what it takes to make Ghanaians enjoy his talent. “I know Ghanaians find it hard to accept Ghanaian music from abroad, but I want to assure them that this is something new and a force to reckon with. The lyrics are very sharp and entertaining as well, it will educate and advice the youth and not just make them dance”.
He is especially grateful for the support from the likes of Almighty Gansta Entertainment, You Never Know Records, Drr Mo and Beat Oga for making his album possible.
