I will write a part three of my reviews later on. I am baffled by something and I need help.

Why do our artistes do better, meaning act better in village or poor, struggling characters and not in contemporary or city, affluent settings? it really baffles me. Lets again take Ini Edo. When you put Ini in an orphan, housemaid, poor girl or village girl role, she is a delight. Put her in the city with wealth and she becomes a lip licking slut.

Even Patience Ozokwor, and some of the best actors. The village movies have so much depth and realism. they are so raw and a complete delight to watch. My favorite movies for the past couple of months have been speak the word, where oceans touch and super love; great acting, nice attempts at structure. But these city settings.... I don't get it.

I am honestly stuck here. I need help understanding this phenomenon.

HELP!

This is because all of us are from the village. Exprience they say is the best teacher. Remember their rules are 'make believe'. A society where evil rules the day. Children are abandoned here are there, the government has no intrests in developing the rural areas, Kidnaps, rapes, ritual killings, fornication and adultory, envy, strife, mother in law against daughter inlaw etc. They are to act and expose exactly what is been exprienced in this rural areas.
Have you watched any Yoruba movies lately, you will understand that the so called Nollywood should have been titled Igbowood. When you watch the rich culture of the Yorubas in their movies you will know that they are even moving higher than the NollyIgbowoods. They showcase their culture in words, fashion, actions, deeds etc.But the Igbos don't even know how to speak their own language not to talk of culture so they turn to act in English.Get me right I don't mean that there should not be English movies but the ones you are referring here are supposed to be in Igbo language and the characters acts their part well but the language is different. If they fail to act according to their script, they will not be paid.
Get them (Actors/actresses) out of the village circle (scripts)to the city (scripts) and they will act like wise. You can't give what you don't have niether can you impart what you don't know. Don't be surprise my dear. We are happy the way they are revealing the ills of the village group. But it should have been in the native languages like the Yorubas.
Come to the so called cities like Lagos, Accra, Abuja, Calabar, Portharcourt etc, No basic amunities, no good schools, roads, pipe borne waters, electric supply etc. A man will house his 8 children with his wife in 2 rooms. The police are ready to kill because of not offered bribe. Haba! We are comfortable with their acts but they most improves in the prowess, technics, expertise and more so let the so called Nolly'Igbo'woods return back to their real Igbo language movies like the Yorubas .There and then get a more refined script of urban or modern way of life in the cities to act on. There you will begin to see improvements. Thanks.

Igbos are the people making Nollywood and Nigeria what it is today. Igbos speaking english in their movies is great, so people all over the world can watch them. Yorubas should go learn how to speak english, and not acting in their native language, otherwise they will remain were they are, and can never move forward. Some one should tell me, who wants to see a movie where native language is being spoken, if not only the yorubas.

To the article up there, I disagree with the journalist.
