Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has apologized to former President and 2024 NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.

According to the now-member of the Movement for Change, he was misled in his past criticisms.

Speaking on Accra FM, the former NPP parliamentary candidate for Kpong Katamanso expressed deep remorse for attacking Mahama's character and tarnishing his reputation during his presidential campaign for Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016.

“As a human being, if you do something and you later realize the aim is not achieved, you need to speak up," Mr. Adorye stated.

"I have said that one day, I will kneel down on television and say Mahama, I am sorry... The things we said about him; Mahama is a thief and all that, but Mahama was an angel as compared to today, we destroyed him for nothing,” he added.

Mr. Adorye implied the current NPP administration has performed worse than Mahama's government.

Adorye's statement comes as the Akufo-Addo government faces intense backlash over rising cost of living, ever-deteriorating economic conditions, and widespread corruption allegations.
