Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongue, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has raised concern about governments handling of the recent cocaine bust by Belgian authorities that implicated officials at the Kotoka International Airport.

It is alleged that Ghana Airport operatives allowed Madam Proeger Delgey Bianca to outfox everyone at Kotoka on March 23, to smuggle cocaine out of the country.

This caused grave international embarrassment to Ghana.

In a post on social media today, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has indicated that the Minority in Parliament is following government's handling of the matter.

According to him, government’s communication on this cocaine scandal has been an unmitigated disaster.

“The NDC Caucus in Parliament wishes to serve notice that we are keenly following with eagle eyes the government’s handling of the recent cocaine bust by Belgian authorities after complicit.

“So far, government’s communication on this cocaine scandal has been an unmitigated disaster,” Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said in a post on Facebook.

He is of the view that but for a Herald newspaper report, government would have been silent on the matter and not issued the press statement of April 10, confirming the arrest in Belgium of smuggled 8.5 kilograms of cocaine from KIA.

In his post, Mr. Ablakwa on behalf of the NDC Caucus in Parliament assured the Ghanaians and the international partners that it shall do everything in his power to avoid a cover-up, especially as two major drug-related incidents last year involving private jets remain unresolved.
