The government has announced that Thursday, April 11, 2024 will be observed as a statutory public holiday to mark Eidul-Fitr.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, April 3, Interior Minister Henry Quartey declared that the day which falls after the month-long fasting period of Ramadan will be a non-working day across the country.

Eidul-Fitr, also known as the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", is one of the most important festivals celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

It marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer, reflection and increased devotion and worship for Muslims.

Fasting from dawn to dusk during this month is one of the five pillars of Islam.

Eidul-Fitr is a joyous occasion celebrated to thank Allah for giving Muslims the strength and willpower to complete Ramadan successfully.
