The Electricity Company of Ghana for not being “truthful” about the issues causing the current erratic power supply in the country.

The ECG had attributed power outages experienced in some parts of the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday to heavy rains that caused technical faults on its distribution network.

In a post on Wednesday, May 2, via X, the IMANI VP noted that the electricity distributed has now shifted it blame from overloaded transformers to flooded substations.

“From overloaded transformers to flooded substations. #CatchMeIfYouCan,” he wrote.

In a statement, the ECG said affected EC substations included Dzorwulu, Avenor, parts of High Street, La Trade, Lakeside Estate and Gbawe.

The electricity distributor noted that technicians from ECG together with officials of the Ghana National Fire Service are working around the clock to drain flooded primary substations "to ensure a swift restoration of power supply."

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has another announced that the situation has been resolved and that the entire country is currently experiencing a stable power supply.
