Don’t retaliate your husband’s infidelity by cheating too; seek counselling or end the marriage — Counsellor

Renowned Ghanaian marriage counsellor, Charlotte Oduro has opined that women fighting infidelity issues with their husbands must seek counselling or end the marriage.

She warns married women against retaliating by also engaging in infidelity.

In an interview with Oyerepa FM, monitored by ModernGhana News, Counselor Charlotte emphasised the importance of understanding that responding to a husband's infidelity with cheating only worsens the situation and can lead to long-term consequences.

She cautioned against allowing anger to dictate actions, highlighting the potential detrimental effects of succumbing to the temptation of infidelity as a form of punishment to the husband.

"I want women to understand that resorting to infidelity won’t resolve their issues. Don’t allow your anger to lead you to ruin your future. If you find it unbearable to cope with your husband’s infidelity, seek counselling or consider ending the marriage. Don’t respond to wrongdoing with more wrongdoing," Counselor Charlotte advised.

She also addressed the societal double standard surrounding infidelity, noting the unreasonable condemnation faced by women who retaliate.

"Many women are reacting to men’s infidelity out of hurt, but this shouldn’t be the case. They’ve noticed that society often overlooks men’s affairs but condemns women’s, so they feel compelled to retaliate," she added.
